Australian heavyweight Demsey McKean penned a multi-fight promotional deal with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing in 2021.
Trained by Tony Sims at the Matchroom Elite Boxing Gym in Essex, McKean returned home in October 2022 with a knockout victory over Patrick Korte in Matchroom’s debut show Down Under.
Linked at various stages to a high-profile fight against Anthony Joshua in 2023, The Tower had to wait until August to get his shot and that came against Olympic medallist and IBF No.1 mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic. McKean dared to be great but fell short with a 12th round stoppage defeat on the undercard of Anthony Joshua-Robert Helenius.
