about

Popular Watford Super-Bantamweight, Shannon Courtenay found her way into boxing in a bid to change her lifestyle and is part of a growing list of female boxers under the Matchroom banner.

‘The Baby Faced Assassin’, won gold at the Haringey Box Cup in 2015 and had her sights set on the 2020 Olympics before penning a deal with Eddie Hearn and making her professional debut in early 2019.

Courtenay raced to 5-0 with two big KOs and her fast hands accompanied by her punch power will be sure to see her in some exciting fights moving forward.

Courtenay suffered a set-back with a points defeat to Rachel Ball in Fight Camp at Matchroom HQ, but rallied back to become World Champion two fights later with victory over Ebanie Bridges in a grudge match in the spring of 2021.

The 29-year-old dramatically lost her World Title on her first defence to Jamie Mitchell six months later before a serious knee injury left her out of the ring for 14 months. Courtenay made her ring return in December 2022 with a points victory over the tough Gemma Ruegg in Leeds.
