about

Craig 'Spider' Richards delivered a Fight of the Year in December 2020 against fierce rival Shakan Pitters as he stopped the Birmingham man in nine rounds to earn the British Light-Heavyweight crown.

Richards then earned his shot at world honours by remaining undefeated since his sole career loss against former World Title challenger Frank Buglioni in October 2017 and put up a great showing against fearsome and highly rated WBA World ruler Dmitry Bivol.

Getting back on track, 'Spider' stopped Marek Matyja in the sixth round at the O2 Arena in October 2021 to claim the WBA International Light-Heavyweight Title before jumping into a domestic showdown with south London rival Joshua Buatsi in May 2022. In a great back-and-forth fight, Richards fell short in a points defeat.

Spider was then forced out of the ring for 21 months due to injuries before making his ring return in February 2024 under new trainer Shane McGuigan. Richards capped his return with a seventh round stoppage of Boris Crighton, the first man to stop the Scot.
