about

Eduardo ‘Rocky’ Hernandez has signed a long-term promotional deal with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing.

Hernandez (33-1, 30 KOs) is ranked #1 in the WBC rankings at 130lbs and the Mexican banger is closing in on a World title shot. The 25-year-old KO artist had an explosive 2022, starting with a thunderous to record a stunning first round stoppage win over Jorge Castaneda in June and then in Hermosillo in September he stopped Jorge Cuellar in five rounds.

Hernandez’s made his official Matchroom Boxing debut in Mexico in July and earned a third round stoppage of late replacement Hector Garcia. With that KO, Rocky secured a mandatory shot at the WBC World Super Featherweight Title against O'Shaquie Foster, which Eddie Hearn delivered on home soil in October 2023. Leading on two of the scorecards heading into the final round, Hernandez was dramatically stopped by Foster with 22 seconds of the fight remaining.

Hernandez returned to winning ways in his next bout against fellow Mexican Daniel Lugo in May2024. Hernandez pulled off a seventh round stoppage to claim the WBA Continental Latin America Super Featherweight Title, in a bout that also doubled up as an eliminator for the WBC World Super Featherweight Title.

Rocky slotted in one more fight before the end of 2024 against Thomas Mattice in Hermosillo. The fight was stopped prematurely and went to the scorecards at the start of round seven after the ringside doctor deemed Rocky unfit to continue due to two massive cuts over either eyes caused by a clash of heads. Hernandez took the win on the scorecards at the time of the stoppage.
