about

Mexican Super-Featherweight talent Eduardo Nunez signed a long-term promotional deal with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing in May.

Nunez (24-1, 24 KOs) has dispatched all of his victims inside the distance to date, and the hard-hitting 26-year-old is banging on the door of the World champions.

‘Sugar’s’ last outing saw him destroy the unbeaten Jesus Martin Ceyca inside two rounds in Culiacan, Mexico, in March and with Hearn and Matchroom announcing a three-year extension to their DAZN deal in America and Mexico, Nunez can expect to land massive fights on home soil to close in on a World title shot.

Nunez has locked in an IBF Final Eliminator shot against Shavkat Rakhimov in 2024 after another devastating KO at the end of October in Cancun Mexico against former World Title challenger Oscar Escandon.

With Anthony Cacace and Josh Warrington locked in to fight in September, Nunez ran out against veteran Miguel Marriaga as chief support to Diego Pacheco-Maciej Sulecki at the end of August and produced another stunning sixth round stoppage. His next fight will now be for the IBF World Featherweight Title.

Nunez was ordered to fight Masanori Rikiishi for the vacate IBF World Title and the fight fell in Japan in May 2025, with Sugar taking a UD decision on away soil to claim the strap.
