Ishmael Davis made the most of two terrific wins over Ewan Mackenzie & Troy Williamson on Matchroom Boxing cards to eventually land himself a promotional deal with Eddie Hearn.
Davis most recently defeated the durable Williamson on the undercard of Dalton Smith-Jose Zepeda in May 2024, stepping up to 12 rounds for the first time in his career, winning a final eliminator for the British Super Welterweight Title in the process.
Originally scheduled to fight on the Catterall-Prograis undercard on October 26, Davis was drafted in to face Josh Kelly on the Joshua-Dubois card on just six days' notice. Davis lost a majority decision but had Kelly hurt badly in the final round.
This time called in on two weeks notice, Davis replaced Israil Madrimov to face hard-hitting Serhii Bohachuk on the undercard of Usyk-Fury 2 in December. After a very positive opening round, Bohachuk's class eventually shone through and Davis' corner pulled him out of the contest at the end of the sixth round having been dropped earlier in the fight.
