about

Jack Catterall inked promotional terms with Eddie Hearn in April 2023 and mad his Matchroom debut on the undercard of the rematch between Mauricio Lara and Leigh Wood in Manchester on May 27.

'El Gato' is desperate to make up for lost time after spending more than 12 months out of the ring chasing a rematch with Undisputed 140lb ruler Josh Taylor. Catterall lost a split decision verdict to Taylor in February 2022, a fight many believe he actually won.

The 29-year-old southpaw trains out of the same gym as fellow Matchroom Boxing stablemates Chantelle Cameron and Aqib Fiaz under the guidance of Jamie Moore and Nigel Travis. Catterall turned in an impressive display on his comeback, twice dropping Australia's Darragh Foley en route to a comfortable points win.

Catterall returned in October 2023 against three-weight World Champion Jorge Linares in Liverpool and eased to a clear UD victory over the legendary Venezuelan.

El Gato finally landed his long-awaited rematch with Josh Taylor in 2024, more than two years on from the controversial first meeting. Delayed by four weeks from the original date due to an eye injury to Taylor, the pair faced off in front of a sold out Leeds crowd in May and Catterall got his revenge with a UD win.
