Jaron 'Boots' Ennis signed a multi-fight promotional deal with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing in April 2024.
Regarded as a future P4P star, Ennis joins Matchroom Boxing as the IBF World Welterweight Champion, looking to secure a showdown with former Undisputed 147lb ruler Terence Crawford.
Boots was scheduled to face Cody Crowley for his Matchroom debut in July 2024, only for Crowley to withdraw from the fight with an eye injury. Ennis would instead face former World Title challenger David Avanesyan at the Wells Cargo Center. Over 14,000 fans turned out to see Ennis' Philly homecoming and he didn't disappoint. After a year out of the ring, Ennis put Avanesyan down in the fifth before the doctor stopped the fight in the corner at the end of the round.
As the other Champions at 147lbs turned down unification opportunities, Ennis instead defended his IBF World Title against mandatory challenger Karen Chukhadzhian for a second time, four months later back at the Wells Fargo Center. Ennis dropped the Ukrainian on his way to a 12-round UD win.
