Nicknamed ‘Pretty Boy Kelly’, Rio 2016 Olympian Josh Kelly turned over in April 2016, decisioning Jay Byrne in Glasgow on the undercard of Ricky Burns’ World Title fight with Julius Indongo.
After amassing five impressive wins, in March 2018 ‘PBK’ took on the experienced Carlos Molina in Cardiff in his first professional title fight. The Sunderland man cruised to a ten round points victory and would add the Commonwealth Welterweight Title to his collection three months later with victory over Kris George in Newcastle.
After drawing with Ray Robinson in New York in June 2019, Kelly returned to winning ways in Phoenix at the end of that year to set up a thrilling rescheduled bout with 147lb rival David Avanesyan for the European Title but unfortunately the bout was postponed due to the Coronavirus outbreak. The 26-year-old talent will be keen to get his chance at the Russian dangerman and prove his ‘flashy’ style can take him right to the top.
