Matchroom Boxing returns to Australiafor a Trans-Tasman tear-up as undefeated Teremoana Teremoana takes on dangerous Hemi Ahioon Wednesday, November 18 at Pullman Melbourne Albert Park – live on Fox Sports and DAZN’sKayo Sports in Australia.
Towering Aussie hero Teremoana has won all 12 of his professional fights to date by way of knockout and has been heralded by promoter Eddie Hearn as a future World Champion.
Now New Zealand rival Ahio, a former WBC Middle East Heavyweight ruler, stands in the unbeaten Olympian’s way next as the pair prepare to headline another exciting night of Championship boxing Down Under next month.
And Teremoana is relishing the challenge as he prepares to headline in Melbourne. “I’m excited to be fighting again down in Melbourne and this time headlining against a strong opponent from New Zealand in Hemi Ahio,” said Teremoana.
“I am really looking forward to the challenge he will bring. Nothing changes for me. I am here to prove I am the best and Ahio is the next obstacle in my way. I respect what he’s achieved but he shouldn’t have taken this fight.
“I’ve been training hard and with another five weeks of preparation until fight night I plan to show the difference in levels. God willing, I will be victorious.”
However, Ahio – nicknamed ’The Heat’ – has warned Teremoana that he is ready to crank up the temperature and unleash everything he has when the two collide.
“I’m in great shape, maybe in the best shape I have been my entire career,” said Ahio, who has lost just once in 26 contests with 25 wins on his resumé, including 19 stoppages.
“There’s going to be fireworks, and we will both be dropping big bombs. I’m ready to throw down with the big man. Let’s go!”
Matchroom Sport Chairman Eddie Hearn is looking forward to big night Down Under with a card stacked with homegrown talent.
“Australian boxing is flying and I am excited to be returning to Melbourne for what promises to be a brilliant fight card, headlined by the country’s most destructive fighter,” said Hearn.
“We seriously have a superstar on our hands in Teremoana. He must close out this year with another big statement – but he’ll need to be at his best as Hemi Ahio is a very dangerous operator with plenty of experience.
“Teremoana truly has the potential to go far in the Heavyweight division. I honestly believe he has the tools to go on and become a future World Champion. He is a man Australia needs to get behind.”The undercard features local favourite, the undefeated, former IBF World Youth Champion, Mitch Leek (14-0, 8 KOs) as he takes on defending champion Joel ‘Camo KO’ Camilleri (31-8, 15 KOs) forthe WBA Oceania Middleweight Title.
The vacant Australian Super Welterweight Title is on the line as Melbourne’s own Ky Hodgson goes up against Victor Adis-Iosifidis (3-1, 1 KO).
Plus, unbeaten 21-year-old prospect Omar El-Abdallah (6-0, 5 KOs) is in action as he faces Lilo Telepe (6-1, 6 KOs) in a Middleweight shootout, whilst Super Welterweights James Noonan (1-1)
