Michael Buffer To Mc First Ever Event In Italy

July 11 2019

Hall of Fame ring announcer Michael Buffer will MC his first ever event in Italy tonight on the DAZN televised Matchroom Boxing and OPI Since 82 card at the historic Stadio Nicola Pietrangeli in the capital of Rome.

The legendary fight announcer has called countless fight nights around the globe for decades and has become one of the most recognisable voices in professional sports, and this evening his famous trademark “Let’s get ready to rumble!” will ring around The Eternal City.

Michael Buffer commented: “It’s going to be a great card of boxing on Thursday night. It will be my very first time working in the ring in Italy. I’ve been here many times as a tourist but now I’m going to be working for Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing and OPI Since 82, and I’m really looking forward to a great night.”

At the top of the bill, Rome’s former World title challenger Emanuele Blandamura (29-3, 5 KOs) returns following his win over Nikola Matic in April to take on Manchester’s Marcus Morrison (20-3, 14 KOs) for the vacant WBC International Silver Middleweight crown and Serhiy ‘Sergio’ Demchenko (21-14-1, 14 KOs) clashes with former French Light-Heavyweight Champion Hakim Zoulikha (26-10, 11 KOs) for the vacant European Union title.

Some of the best talent the city has to offer feature on the undercard with slots for undefeated former European and WBC Silver Lightweight ruler Emiliano Marsili (37-0-1, 15 KOs), Super-Welterweight Mirko Natalizi (5-0, 3 KOs), Super-Lightweight Sebastian Mendizabal (2-0), Super-Welterweight Vincenzo Bevilacqua (14-0) and the professional debut of 2016 Olympian Valentino Manfredonia at Light-Heavyweight, and Belfast’s Tommy McCarthy (14-2, 7 KOs) keeps busy after Fabio Turchi was forced out of their clash with an injury.
