TEREMOANA PAYS HOMAGE TO COOK ISLANDS HERITAGE IN SPECIAL VISIT TO AUSTRALIAN RUGBY LEAGUE GIANTS AHEAD OF SAVAGE SHOWDOWN

Unbeaten Heavyweight boxer Teremoana Teremoana joined the Dolphins at Kayo Sports Stadium to take part in a traditional Aboriginal ceremony alongside the club’s players in the lead-up to Indigenous Round and the Dolphins’ Battle for Brisbane clash against the Broncos (Saturday 8 August, Suncorp Stadium).

The visit comes just days before Teremoana headlines his own career-defining night, facing American knockout artist DeAndre Savage for the heavyweight title on Wednesday 12 August at The Star Gold Coast, live on DAZN’s Kayo Sports.

In a mark of respect between the two codes, Dolphins prop Thomas Fledgler presented Teremoana with a signed game day jersey, welcoming him as the club’s biggest heavyweight fan ahead of Saturday’s match.

Indigenous Round is one of the NRL’s most significant celebrations, honouring the culture, stories and contribution of First Nations and Pacific communities to rugby league. For Teremoana, of Cook Island and Pacific heritage himself, the visit was an opportunity to connect with players who share a similar journey and sense of pride in representing their culture on a national stage.

Teremoana (11-0, 11 KOs) enters the Savage fight as one of Australian boxing’s most exciting undefeated prospects, having turned professional following his appearance at the Paris Olympics. He will look to continue his run of knockout victories in front of a home crowd on the Gold Coast.
