In the Community: School of Hard Knocks, Orlando
Matchroom Boxing paid a fight week visit to School of Hard Knocks in Orlando, Florida yesterday, where Matchroom Chairman, Eddie Hearn and American Super Lightweight star, Richardson Hitchins, spoke to youngsters about their respective journeys and experiences in boxing, providing hope and inspiration to the next generation – and even some sparring tips!
As a former USA Boxing standout and active member of his own amateur boxing club – New York City Cops & Kids – Richardson is the perfect role model to motivate tomorrow’s superstars – and he certainly didn’t disappoint, taking time out of the most important week of his career to date to highlight the importance of consistency, hard work and belief in yourself if you’re to reach the top in boxing.
I was just like you. A kid that found a craft, fell in love with it and stuck with it!
- Richardson Hitchins
Head Coach, Jason Galarza – himself no stranger to producing champions, having coached former Super Welterweight World Title Challenger Erickson Lubin from a young age, delivers a host of community boxing sessions to cater for all abilities. From youth boxing (aged 5+), amateur and professional boxing training to weight loss, School of Hard Knocks has all bases covered – and they are clearly producing another wave of genuine boxing talent!
And it’s these youngsters that were left in awe as they met their heroes – none more so than 12-year old Rocky, who can be seen conducting his first ever interview with Eddie Hearn in the video below:
It’s back to business for Richardson now, as he – and a stacked undercard, including British duo Sandy Ryan and Conor Benn – prepare for fight night, live on DAZN this Saturday night!
