Fight Day 5K - Joshua v Dubois: Hyde Park, London
The latest instalment of the Fight Day 5K series saw the Matchroom team join forces with The Run Out at Hyde Park, London on Saturday morning, in the build-up towards the blockbuster Riyadh Season all-British Heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium – and, much like the fight itself, the event was one to remember!
With over 200 people in attendance, this was our biggest turnout yet – and even included a special appearance from pound-for-pound superstar, Terence Crawford. Joining Crawford were fellow fighters Derek Chisora, Sunny Edwards, Johnny Fisher, Zelfa Barrett, Kieron Conway, and Lyndon Arthur – with Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn and Frank Smith orchestrating proceedings, as always.
Runners had travelled from across the UK just to join in the pre-fight festivities, with some – running influencer Harry Lancaster and our friends from Run the Streets MCR – coming from as far as the Lake District and Manchester respectively. Joining the running community were a host of local amateur boxing clubs, including Brentwood Central ABC, TLS Boxing CIC and Repton ABC, amongst others.
Matchroom’s Head of Fitness & Wellbeing, Kai Peacock, led an interactive warm-up, before a short walk to the start line ensued. As the run got underway, with the tunes blaring – three paced groups took in the sights of Hyde Park at differing speeds, ensuring the run was fully inclusive to all abilities.
At the finish line, our partners at Drip were on hand to keep everyone hydrated, with Everlast also providing bespoke Joshua v Dubois beanies for all participants, along with the customary Matchroom Boxing Fight Day 5K t-shirt.
The event provided the perfect platform for fans to stay fit, show their support and be involved in a truly historic night for British boxing. From beginners to seasoned runners, participants of all fitness levels took part, creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.
Thank you to everyone that got involved – and of course to Leon Skinner and his team of volunteers at The Run Out for all their planning and hard work in the build-up to Saturday’s event.
